The publicity committee moved on to new business . There was some review of the Publicity folders presented to those in attendance. Review began with the Publicity Handbook, including discussion on the judging sheets, area chairs and judges term limits. Plus a conversation was held on limiting the number of times winning consecutively in a category. Review of the NASCOE Now and its schedule, plus the number of printed National Newsletters versus electronic delivery.

Diane Holowaty presented information regarding her activities during the past year. She purchased the new Dreamweaver software and NASCOE uses I power for the website host. Several handouts were given to show the website activity by page.

Meeting was adjourned at 2:15

The National Publicity meeting reconvened at 1:00, Friday August 8, 2008 in the Nebraska Room. Nancy Chlapecka and Charlene Neukomm were recognized for their National winning publicity items. Those in attendance stated that the publicity committee had a good year. All stated that there was good discussion in their area meetings and thought of publicity budget savings ideas that could help the NASCOE overall budget. Concern was raised over going to all electronic newsletters that we would lose contact with RASCOE, NAFEC, Associates, Coalition Partners and Congressional Members and Staffers.

Tammy Eibey, National Publicity Chair, thanked those in attendance for their willingness to participate and provide honest and well thought out discussion on all topics discussed.

The Publicity Committee would like to make the following recommendations to the NASCOE Executive Board at the fall organizational meeting:

  1. Recommendation that there be a certification to membership prior to submitting items the  for area publicity contest. This would be similar to the website certification found in the current National Publicity Handbook.
  2. Recommend changes to the current judges scoring sheets D & E to clarify the maximum points allowed as currently found in the Publicity Handbook.
  3. Recommend that the Executive Board review the current newsletter name and address mailing list to determine those needing printed copies. It is asked that consideration be kept in mind for these groups: RASCOE, NAFEC, Associate Members,  Coalition Partners and Congressional members and staffers.
  4. Recommend that 4 newsletters be prepared at the national level but 2 be distributed electronically and 2 be printed. The recommendation is that the Fall and Spring issue be printed.

The committee adjourned at 1:50 pm on August 8, 2008.

Respectfully submitted,

Tammy Eibey
National Publicity Chairperson
