SALE FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY!
We still have items in our CLOSE OUT section. We've drastically reduced the price on selected items that have been discontinued. Help us get these off the shelves. All sales final.
Another new category is coming soon - BIG and TALL. This category will feature items that are in sizes larger than XL, Plus, and Tall sizes. We are already offering some items in these sizes, but we will make it easier for you find the items by adding this category. And, we plan to stock some of the larger sizes so we can get the orders out immediately.

NASCOE NOW
By
Kevin Beekman
MWA Leg Chair
There have been a lot of challenges for many of us in the Midwest with the flooding but lets hope for a good summer and fall. We have finally gotten past the Farm Bill hurdle and we are now starting the 2008 signup. NASCOE was not able to secure everything we wanted in this Farm Bill but we are very happy with the results. We were able to secure the Permanent Disaster program and keep all of our current programs so we feel that it was a success.
The topic of Reorganization is still on the minds of many of our members and to be honest, it is still on the minds of some politicians and you can be assured that NASCOE is continuing to monitor this topic and will be ready if this topic comes to the forefront of discussion in Washington DC.
Our NASCOE Convention in Omaha is getting close and I would like to see as many members as possible at the convention. I have always supported NASCOE but started to get more involved after I attended my first National Convention. I was able to see first hand how our organization works from top to bottom. I would encourage each of you to attend and if you can’t, contact your Area Leg Chair to bring forward any Legislative concerns that you may have.
The Sick Leave legislation and the legislation to change the age of our dependents for Health Insurance from age 22 to 24 has not moved forward but it is still something that is “in the works”. The discussion is now on Appropriations. We are watching this process very closely because it affects a lot of things we work on for our farmers and ranchers. Some may be asked to make the contacts necessary to help with these discussions.

SCHOLARSHIP AUCTION ITEMS
The NASCOE Convention is just around the corner and I am looking forward to seeing everyone there! Our Scholarship Committee is preparing for the Convention and the Auction that will be held on Thursday, August 7th. The Auction will begin at 7:00 PM. The Live Auction will run for an hour and a half with a Silent Auction going on at the same time.
Our Auctioneer this year is Gene Sisco, a producer from Otoe County, Nebraska. Gene is donating his time and talents to our auction and we really appropriate his talents and efforts. Mrs. Sherry Studdendeck found Gene for us and from what we are hearing, we will all have a wonderful time with Gene leading our Scholarship Auction.
Last year we raised a RECORD $5636 during the convention – Gene wants to beat that this year &the only way that we can beat that record is through your efforts.

The first thing is that we need the States to come with (or mail) 1-2 auction items. Your Area Scholarship Chairs have or will be sending information in the VERY NEAR future. We have a paper that we need each state to complete and send with the item.
Secondly, we need you there bidding on those items. We have always had some very neat and beautiful items to bid on and I know that states will again provide us with those again this year. Remember that in order to bid you must register and we will begin registering at 6:00 PM.
We will be assigned a room to turn-in those items that you bring with you. We will ship that info as soon as we know or you may check at the registration desk when you pick up your packet.
Those that desire to mail the items, you may ship them to:
Doubletree Hotel
1616 Dodge Street
Omaha, NE 68102
Attn: Herb Sorley
Ship them to arrive no earlier than August 3rd & prior to August 6th, please!
We would also ask that you complete the following information on those items shipped.
Item donated by: (Business or Individual)

SALE! – SAVE $5 PER PERSON OR $10 PER COUPLE
Now that I have your attention, this is just a reminder that you can save $5 on your convention registrations by having it postmarked no later than July 6, 2008. Also, room reservations must be made by July 3, 2008 to get the convention rate.
Darlene tells me that we have a great representation from Washington DC coming to Omaha including but not limited to Teresa Lasseter, Steve Connelly, John Chott, John Johnson and many more.
People have asked me what the agenda is for the convention. The National Officers set the agenda for the daytime activities, but from experience I can tell you that the Administrator and one other Washington DC representative will probably talk to us on Thursday morning and we will be welcomed by an assortment of people from Nebraska. Thursday afternoon will be divided between committee and area meetings which are open to everyone.
Friday morning we will hear from more Washington representatives and then have a Question and Answer session with those folks. This is your opportunity to get your questions answered by those who know!
Friday afternoon we will finish up the committee and area meetings. Saturday morning we finish up NASCOE business and hear the committee reports. We also honor NASCOE members who have passed away in the last year with a memorial presentation.
I know we are all busy with certification, various disasters and will probably be signing up for DCP by August, but I hope you will be able to take some time out of your busy schedules to join us for the 49th Annual NASCOE Convention in Omaha, August 6-9, 2008.
Cindy Hall, Convention Co-Chairperson
It’s Convention Time!
